Bardon Latrobe U12s Make Final Fundraising Push Ahead of Cherished Georges River Tour

With the annual Georges River tour just days away, Bardon Latrobe Football Club’s Under 12 squad is making one final fundraising push before heading to Sydney for one of the club’s most cherished traditions.

Families, volunteers and supporters are coming together to help make the tour possible, with the club hosting its final sausage sizzle and raffle while also inviting donations through an online fundraiser.

The annual trip has become a highlight of the junior football calendar at Bardon Latrobe, offering young players the chance to build friendships, represent their club and create lasting memories both on and off the pitch.

A Tradition That Welcomes Every Player

Unlike many representative football experiences, the Georges River tour is open to every player in Bardon Latrobe’s Under 12 squad.

There are no trials or selection barriers. Instead, the focus is on ensuring every child has the opportunity to share in an experience that has become an important part of the club’s culture.

While football is at the centre of the trip, the tour is equally about strengthening team spirit, travelling together and creating memories that players and their families will remember for years to come.

Community Gets Behind the Fundraising

As departure day approaches, the club is holding its final fundraising activities to support the annual tour.

Supporters are invited to enjoy the last Georges River sausage sizzle or purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win the return of the popular Billy’s Meat Tray or a golf voucher as second prize.

The raffle will be drawn at 1pm, and for local winners unable to attend, the club is even offering delivery of the meat tray on Saturday afternoon.

Those who cannot make it to the fundraiser can also support the team through the online campaign.

Every contribution helps support the tour and the club’s commitment to keeping the experience accessible for every eligible Under 12 player.

More Than a Football Trip

For generations of Bardon Latrobe families, the Georges River tour has been about far more than the matches played on the field.

The trip gives young footballers the opportunity to travel together as a team, strengthen friendships and experience the pride of representing one of Brisbane’s longest-established football clubs.

It is a tradition that reflects the values of community sport — participation, inclusion, teamwork and belonging — and one that many former players still remember long after their junior playing days have ended.

About Bardon Latrobe Football Club

Bardon Latrobe Football Club was formed in 1970 through the merger of two of Brisbane’s oldest football clubs.

Latrobe FC was established in 1916 at Gregory Park, Milton, while Bardon Soccer FC developed a proud amateur football tradition, competing in Brisbane’s second and third divisions and supporting junior boys’ teams.

Latrobe went on to become one of Brisbane’s most successful clubs, winning nine first-grade premierships, multiple cup titles and producing state and national representatives.

According to the club, Bardon Latrobe now carries the legacy of the longest continuous participation in Brisbane football competitions of any existing local club, continuing a footballing tradition that spans more than a century.
